2. Five Oaks Riding Stables
Ride along cascading streams, through towering trees, and past stunning Smoky Mountain views when you opt to go horseback riding at Five Oaks Riding Stables. The guided ride lasts about an hour and covers a 3½-mile trail. While reconnecting with nature, you’ll hear about the area from an experienced guide and even glimpse a neat, authentic moonshine still from the past.
Tandem riding is allowed with small kids (ages 3-5), and group rates are available. You must be under 270 pounds to ride during normal conditions and under 225 if it’s rainy or wet so the horses aren’t overworked. 3. Goldrush Stables
Conveniently located about 4 miles from Parkway attractions and nestled across from Dollywood and Splash Country, you can play in town, ride roller coasters, swim under the sun, then take a leisurely horseback ride through the hills of Pigeon Forge at Goldrush Stables. With acreage in the Loveday family since 1909, these guides know their 5 nature trails forwards and backward and love taking visitors along.
On these fun guided trail rides, you’ll travel through a shallow creek, between stretching trees, into the hollow, past rolling pastures, and up mountainsides, where you can take incredible photos of the scenery. 4. Deer Farm Riding Stables
Oh, deer! If you want to ride horses and love animals — you have to check out Deer Farm Riding Stables. Not only do they offer horseback riding near Pigeon Forge, TN, they also feature pony rides and a petting zoo with animals like Rocky Mountain elk, reindeer, emu, donkeys, kangaroos, miniature horses, and camels. 5. Horseback Riding in the National Park
One of the best horseback riding experiences in the Pigeon Forge area has to be in the nearby Great Smoky Mountains National Park — with about 550 miles of trails for horses. Multiple stables focus on quality time with happy horses in the mountains. You can even bring your own horse to ride! Trail rides, including carriage rides and hayrides, usually take place from mid-March through November.
- Cades Cove Riding Stables
See historic structures, wandering wildlife (like foxes, turkeys, white-tailed deer, and black bears), and beautiful valley scenes on an intimate 1-hour trail ride with up to 9 riders. Carriage rides and group hayrides are also available, so you can experience Cades Cove more intimately. Horseback riders must be at least 6 years old and have a maximum weight of 250 pounds.
