Pigeon Forge Parks & Recreation | Explore & Play While on Vacation

To provide Parks, Recreation, Open Space, and Greenways for the enjoyment of our residents and visitors while focusing on Wellness and Fitness, Social Equity, Conservation, and Tourism.” – Pigeon Forge Parks and Rec Mission Statement

Known for loads of family-friendly attractions — like Dollywood, Crave Golf Club, and The Island —  an array of Southern and foreign cuisine, plenty of souvenir shops, and a beautiful Smoky Mountain setting, Pigeon Forge is a fun Tennessee city with entertaining activities around every corner. It’s no wonder visitors of all ages flock to the area year after year to enjoy family vacations, large group trips, getaways with friends, and romantic escapes.

While planning for bustling attractions, eateries, and shops is great, spending time at a local park or the community center while in the area is also recommended while on vacation. The Department of Parks and Recreation puts in a lot of hard work and time to make sure Pigeon Forge provides quality places to get some fresh air, play games, swim, exercise safely, bowl, and even get wellness checks.

Winning awards — including the Tree City Growth Award — and offering locals and visitors 134 acres of parkland, a huge community center, plus over 6 miles of greenways, Pigeon Forge parks and rec are…let’s just say these outdoor spaces and indoor facilities are sure to get the Leslie Knope and (fingers crossed) Ron Swanson approval!

Patriot Park

186 Old Mill Avenue | Pigeon Forge, TN

An homage to those who have served — past and present — Patriot Park in Pigeon Forge has wonderful features that honor the men and women of the Armed Forces. Along a ½-mile walking trail at Patriot Park, see flags from all 50 states and memorials to local Pigeon Forge veterans.

The park is also pet friendly, so grab the leash, a collar displaying up-to-date vaccinations, your fur baby, and a few waste bags and head to Patriot Park to spend time together! Year-round events keep the expansive park bustling at times, but you can also spend a peaceful day walking the trail, paying tribute to veterans, hanging out under the pavilion, or playing around in the park.

Special Events at Patriot Park

Put on by the Pigeon Forge Department of Specials Events and the Department of Parks and Recreation, Patriot Park hosts music festivals and bluegrass concerts throughout the year plus a 4th of July fireworks show.

It’s also home to Pigeon Forge’s annual Patriot Festival, which is yet another way to honor our veterans and active military. Enjoy live music, food and drink vendors, and a Kids’ Karnival with plenty of games and fun activities!

In wintertime, expect dazzling light displays to go along with the city’s participation in Smoky Mountain Winterfest, a super wintertime event that brings the city to life with dazzling light displays and holiday decorations.

Gazebo & Pavilion

Available for use from March through October, the gazebo and pavilion overlook the Little Pigeon River at Patriot Park and offer 2 nice spots for picnics and events. The pavilion features 6 picnic tables, lighting, and a grill. It is a first-come, first-serve space; reservations are not taken.

The gazebo is a favored wedding and special ceremony spot and does require reservations. On the bright side, there is no fee. Call Ann Ping at 865.429.7373 or email parksrec@cityofpigeonforgetn.gov for more information about gazebo reservations.

Wear Farm City Park

623 Wears Valley Road | Pigeon Forge, TN

Beautifully landscaped and offering lots of amenities, Wear Farm City Park is the primary park for the City of Pigeon Forge. And because it’s located on Wears Valley Road, you’ll get the scenery of lush trees and the Great Smoky Mountains in the distance.

For sporting events, Wear Farm City Park has 5 lighted softball/baseball fields, 1 lighted football field, and 1 multi-purpose field. Kids will love the 2 playgrounds — 1 is fully accessible for children with special needs — and 3 shelters offer nice places for picnics. The park also has some lovely walking trails, along with a basketball court, restrooms, and 2 concession stands during events.

Irrigation throughout the park keeps it lush and manicured, and ample parking means you won’t have to find downtown parking when you want to visit. Plus, areas that are not fenced in are considered pet friendly (service animals are welcome in all areas of the park). It’s a great outdoor place you don’t want to miss if you’re spending a week or so in the area.
